The motorcycle frame is the main framework of a motorcycle, acting as its "skeleton." It's a complex spatial structure primarily made of welded tubing and sheet metal. It connects the engine, transmission system, suspension, steering system, wheels, and other components into a unified whole, bearing the weight of the driver and the components, as well as the impacts and vibrations during riding.
The basic layout of motorcycle frames was established in Europe in the early 20th century along with the early motorcycles. Since then, its structural form has continuously evolved, resulting in various types such as cradle frames, diamond frames, and steel tubular frames. Frame materials have also evolved from the commonly used steel in the early days to the use of aluminum alloys in pursuit of lightweight and high strength.
